Hey, we’re Snail Quail

Hello. We are Snail Quail, it’s nice to meet you.

Snail Quail is from Phoenix, Arizona and has been called everything from “proto-punk” to “anti-folk”. The band was founded by singer/songwriter/guitarist Jonathan Cisneros who initially made a run of it by playing in the dingiest, most weird and unusual basements, art galleries, and house shows in Arizona. The full band is now completed by drummer Tim Hoag and bassist Dez Muserelli.

SQ has much love for Arizona as expressed in their music video for “Phoenix, Arizona” that AzCentral.com called a “truly hilarious ode to Phoenix.”

The Hunger Artists – 2 Shots 4 Bad Timing

The Hunger Artists’ new record sounds really great. We were driving around town today getting their newly-printed t-shirts, stickers, and new album 2 Shots 4 Bad Timing. Pick up a copy or listen online if you get a chance. Sad to see them go but they’ll be off to bigger and better things in Indianapolis (and will be back to Arizona for Brootal Sun Fest early 2012).

If you’ve never heard of The Hunger Artists check them out here: The Hunger Artists on Facebook

Tumblr of the Week, Phoenix New Times

Thank you very much to Lenni Rosenblum for making Snail Quail’s Tumblr Sleep Waking the Tumblr of the Week at Phoenix New Times.

We appreciate the kind words and thanks for noticing. (:

Destroy Nate Allen & Shortstack Lightning

Lost Star

We recorded this in my old apartment in downtown/midtown Phoenix. We used this old Sears brand electronic drum set. We had to put a pillow under the little coffee table because the neighbors would get mad about the noise and hit the ceiling with a broomstick.

Originally we recorded this to have for our ‘Calculus Tour’ Summer of 2010. Never saw the light of day after that.. until now.

Rodeo

Song I recorded a few years back. Found it hiding in a box. Thought I’d share.
